Fall updates from the easel
As the weather turns colder and the holidays approach, most of use either grapple with seasonal depression or reflection on those we have lost. I too, on this day, normally have a hard time dealing with the loss of a loved one.
Recently, after a spiritual experience at the Wild Goose Festival, I was finally able to get my grief out on canvas and the process was incredibly healing for me. So much so, that I plan to host an art therapy night for a local grief group in January. I feel like I can give the gift of grief transformation to others as it was given to me.
It's also librating to have a studio to do these works in, without the threat of paint covered paw prints everywhere. Not that I do not love my fur babies, but they do indeed make the process difficult sometimes.
Plan some self care this season, if you struggle. Make some art, doodle, get with friends that uplift you during these trying times. Take care of yourself.
See you soon.
